This November, SafeHands will joins the 2022 International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) in Pattaya City, Thailand to underscore the role digital tech can play in advancing access to family planning for all.

Youth Pre-Conference: Stories 4 Change: Digital Storytelling Taster Session
At the Youth Pre-Conference, SafeHands, Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) and the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) East Southeast Asia and Oceania Regional Office (ESEAOR) co-host a Stories 4 Change: Digital Storytelling for SRHR taster session for pre-conference participants. Participants are invited to use digital photography to communicate their stories and hear more how digital storytelling can convey lived experiences that inspire change.

Friends and colleagues of SafeHands at ICFP are invited for a private viewing of our interactive exhibition of a collection of photographs curated by young people from Southeast Asia, the Pacific and Uganda at our ‘Stories 4 Change: Digital Storytelling for SRHR’ workshop series. Visitors are invited to take part in our #FPFotoBooth to share their stories and photographs with the ICFP community on why family planning matters.

Youth Lounge: Stories 4 Change: The importance of family planning stories to create change
Our session engages audiences in the Youth Lounge to explore the impact their stories can make on the family planning community. Session speakers include: Liz Futrell, Pathfinder, Aidah Babirye Nakanjako, Reproductive Health Uganda, Dadchaneeya Ruttanasiri and Sooksodchuen Sooksomchitra, youth volunteers, Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), our own Paige Rogers and moderated by Lady Nancy Lisondra, IPPF ESEAOR. Through an interactive format, audiences are transported through the stories and lived experiences of young people in Uganda and Thailand. We will emphasise the key aspects of storytelling, while inviting audiences to reflect on their own lived experiences.

Together with Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) and IPPF East Southeast Asia Regional Office (IPPF ESEAOR), our exhibition Grand Opening invites donors, decision-makers, youth leaders, ICFP participants and trailblazers to view a collection of photographs curated by young people from Southeast Asia, the Pacific and Uganda at our ‘Stories 4 Change: Digital Storytelling for SRHR’ workshop series. Speakers include IPPF ESEAOR Regional Director, Tomoko Fakuda, RHU Executive Director Jackson Chekweko, Dadchaneeya Ruttanasiri, youth volunteer, Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), Sooksodchuen Sooksomchitra, youth volunteer, Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) and our own Erica Belanger, Executive Director, SafeHands. The booth and exhibition will remain open throughout ICFP.

Youth Lounge: Lift Up Your Voices: In Conversation with youth advocates, donors and decision-makers
With SERAC-Bangladesh, SafeHands invites youth advocates, donors and decision-makers to interactive discussion. A fireside chat format engages panellists from the Chonghee Choi Hwang, FP2030 Country Engagement and Transition Director; Aidah Babirye Nkanjako, Reproductive Health Uganda; Julia Greenland, CIFF; Laura Ramos Tomas, TabuTabu; Jasmine Gourley, the United Kingdom’s FCDO; Md Tamzid Hayder Tawart Skider, SERAC-Bangladesh and moderated by our own Erica Belanger. Over five quickfire rounds, audiences and speakers will engage in a dynamic discussion on key themes on family planning policy and practice.
